Carolina Active Health Chiropractic uses Instrument Assisted Soft-Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) to help enhance recovery and rehabilitation. IASTM decreases the overall time of treatment and the need for anti-inflammatory medication, fosters faster rehabilitation/recovery, and resolves some chronic conditions.

Our team uses a hard-edged metal, plastic, or ceramic instrument to add shearing stress to soft tissue to enhance the body’s healing response. The ergonomic design of these instruments allows the clinician to locate restrictions and treat the affected area with the appropriate amount of pressure.

The introduction of controlled microtrauma to an affected soft tissue structure stimulates a local inflammatory response. Microtrauma initiates the reabsorption of inappropriate fibrosis or excessive scar tissue and facilitates a cascade of healing activities, resulting in the remodeling of affected soft tissue structures.

FAKTR (pronounced “factor”) stands for Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehab and is an advanced form of IASTM. FAKTR incorporates research and evidence-based soft-tissue techniques into a comprehensive protocol to treat common neuromusculoskeletal system disorders and complicated injuries.
